The Places That Shape Us – No. 2

This landscape depicts a small abandoned building on Dickinson Avenue in Greenville, North Carolina. During my short time in Greenville, Dickinson Avenue has become my favorite street to explore. It’s a place in transition—currently being revitalized—but from what I can tell, it once thrived.

I first noticed this building while my wife and I were eating at Native Diner, (hands down, a top-five restaurant in Greenville). I loved how it stood out behind a field of rusty sculptures, which seem to decorate nearly every street in town. This building made me reflect on how quickly cities change and how important it is to preserve history while still appreciating the present.
