This piece was inspired by a photo of a lone tree in a field. I was drawn to the fact that it was young and still growing. It reminded me of my own journey as a father, husband, and man. Seasons come when it feels like we are growing in a void, but slowly we are becoming part of an ecosystem that sustains us as we sustain those around us.
This piece also marks a bit of a shift for me. Moving from oil pastels back to acrylic paint has been a big change. It has been both refreshing and challenging. Things that came easily with pastels now require patience and many layers. I am still learning to slow down and trust the process, but it has been fun to see a painting grow from a simple idea into something I could not have fully imagined.
